Upcoming Events

 

  • All-Shore Band Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Easton Middle School.  See Mr. Wright for further details.
     

  • Solo & Ensemble Festival will be held at St. Michaels MS/HS on Thursday, February 18, 2010.  This will be held during the school day.  Our performance times are yet to be determined.
     

  • District Band Festival will be held at Kent County HS on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.  This will be held during the school day.  Our performance time has yet to be determined.
     

Announcements

 

  • February Band Booster Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 4th in the band room at 7:00PM.  Please come out and be informed about what the band is currently doing as well as the things that are coming up.  We need everyone to get involved to help the program stay active.

Recent Band News

 

  • On Saturday, September 26th, the Marching Lions Band traveled to Lake Forest High School, in Felton Delaware for their first competition of the season. This was a very exciting time for all of the new members.  We ended up being the only Group 1 Championship Band to perform and started on our season with a 71.65.
     

  • On Tuesday, October 6th, the Symphonic Band along with the Concert Choir and Dance Classes, presented the 8th Annual Pops Concert.  This year's theme was TV and Movie Themes.  It was well attended and was enjoyed by all.
     

  • On Saturday, October 10th, the Marching Lions Band traveled to Wilmington, Delaware to participate in the William Penn High School “Tournament of Champions” TOB Competition held at Frawley Stadium.  Although they Marching Lions were once again the only Group 1 Championship Band to perform, they went out and gave it all they had in hopes of increasing their score over two weeks ago.  As a result, they did just that.  They finished the night with a score of 75.55.
     

  • On Sunday, October 25th, the Marching Lions Band traveled to Broadneck High School for the Chapter 9 Championships. It had been postponed until Sunday from Saturday due to the weather. The Marching Lions gave it all they had and finished 2nd out of 4 in Group 1 Championship competition. They also took specialty awards for 2nd Place Drum Major, 2nd Place Color Guard, 2nd Place Music, 2nd Place Visual with a final regular season score of 79.1. They have finished 29th over all in the Tournament of Bands Competition circuit which qualifies them for a fourth year in a row to attend the Atlantic Coast Championships in Hershey, PA this coming Sunday.
     

  • On Sunday, November 1, the Marching Lions Band competed in the Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Invitational Championship Competition for the fourth consecutive year in a row.  The band finished their competition season with a season high score of 82.00.  This earned them the title of the "2009 Atlantic Coast Invitational Group 1 Champions" as they took first place over all.  They also were awarded the Specialty Awards of 1st Place Music, 1st Place Visual, 1st Place Drum Major, and 1st Place Color Guard.
     
  • On Wednesday, November 11th, the Freshman Concert Band performed at the American Legion Post in Centreville as a part of the Veteran's Day Ceremony.  It was to be held in front of the courthouse, but was moved indoors at the Legion Post due to the rain.  The band played a few selections prior to the start of the ceremony, the Concert Choir performed the National Anthem, and together the two groups provided a patriotic piece during the ceremony.
     
  • On Thursday, December 3rd, The Music Department kicked off the Winter Holiday Season with their Winter Concert.  The Jazz Ensemble performed holiday favorites in the lobby prior to the formal concert in the John F. Andrews Performing Arts Center where performances by the Marching Lions, the Choral Musicianship Ensemble, the Freshman Concert Band, the Concert Choir, and the Symphonic Band were enjoyed by all that were in attendance.  The concert closed with a combined performance by all of the ensembles.
     
  • On Tuesday, December 8th, the band received its acceptance from the Magic Music Days Review Committee.  The band will perform on Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 at the Waterside Stage in the Downtown Disney Market Place.
